CITES Notification to the Parties No. 2010/024: ZIMBABWE - Trade in ivory carvings

Trade ivory carvings

1. The Conference of the Parties has approved the trade of ivory carvings from Zimbabwe, non-commercial purposes. Until recently, domestic traders license holders could issue a document to its customers at the time of purchase. That document, known as "simplified export permit" was provided by the CITES Management Authority of Zimbabwe. When I was endorsed by a Customs prior to export, allowing the user to leave the country with ivory carvings.

2. However, this practice has ended. Currently, people who want to get ivory carvings of the country must apply for a CITES export permit standard one of the three offices of the Management Authority of Zimbabwe.

3. Accordingly, we request that Parties not authorize the import of ivory carvings when travelers to present a "simplified export permit." Downloadable
