1. Management Authorities of the United Kingdom and Switzerland, in collaboration with the CITES Secretariat, initiated a project on August 28, 2008 to electronically exchange information on export permits and CITES export certificates.
2. The information exchange system resulting echoes the recommendations contained in the set of tools for electronic issuance of CITES permits (only available in English).
3. The system was officially launched on May 25, 2010 and is fully operational.
4. Management Authorities in the UK and Switzerland have informed the Secretariat of its desire to expand the project to other parties in the near future. It invites parties seeking further information regarding contact:
- Mr. Mathias Lörtscher, Director of the CITES Management Authority of Switzerland (mathias.loertscher @ bvet.admin.ch) or
- Mr. John Hounslow, Director de la Autoridad Administrativa CITES del Reino Unido (Licensing & Compliance) (john.hounslow@animalhealth.gsi.gov.uk).
