Details of the Species: plant 10-30 cm. high. It grows in well-lit, grassland clearings of acebuchares, oaks, pines, carob trees, olive groves and scrub uneducated. Often forms large populations. Most often emerges in Cambisols calcium, regosols limestone and calcium Phaeozems rendzinas. Prefer a certain level of soil moisture, but not thriving in marshy places, is common in marl, marly and clay. It blooms from March to May.

Datos de la Especie: (extraída del manual de la UAH citado en bibliografía). Este lepidóptero perteneciente a la familia de los licaénidos, está presente en toda la Península Ibérica. Se distribuye por toda Europa, Turquía e islas mediterráneas y no en África. Suele ser localizada en cualquier lugar, aunque preferiblemente en pastizales abiertos y con flores. Las larvas se alimentan de hojas y flores de algunas especies de Papilionáceas, principalmente de los géneros Trifolium , Medicago , Lotus , Genista .
Los machos adultos presentan un comportamiento muy territorial, y salen al paso de otras mariposas que se les acerquen, to expel. Also the male is often seen sucking on clay and other damp surfaces, which provide them with certain minerals.
